My name is Kurt Satoru Komoda. I was born on May 15, 1970, in Princeton, New Jersey. I am full Japanese, but I don't speak it (my mother was born in Seattle, and does not speak it either).

flight suit photo, 1990     I grew up in East Windsor, New Jersey until, in 1988, I graduated Hightstown Highschool and entered into active duty with the United States Navy, where I served as an Aviation Anti-Submarine Warfare Operator(AW) onboard P-3C Orions for VP-47. I received an honorable discharge in 1992 and returned to civilian life, right back to my parents' home in East Windsor.

These days, I'm working as a commercial artist in New York City. It's not really what I like to do, and slick, cheery, storyboard art isn't exactly something that I'm too terribly good at(take a look around my site and you'll probably get something of an idea where my interests lie). I've always hated commercial art, and I hate my commercial art even more. There are definitely people in the biz who are very talented and far better at this than I will ever be, but it's just not something that I would ever want to make a lifelong pursuit.

I would like to get into illustration- or, basically, any forum where I could use my own style and sensibilities. I guess that this is why I have a website. What goes up is what I choose. If only it paid the rent.

It's a very loose idea, but someday I would like to produce a book, with my brother, Paul, about monsters. These monsters would come from folklore and mythology, from nightmares of other people, and from my own creation. I just love books like that. I don't know who would buy such a book, but it's still something I want to do. If I could think of a cohesive format, I might even want to produce a book simple entitled: Agony a Go-Go.
